CONCORD, N.H. -- New Hampshire is using $29 million in federal stimulus money to pay for several dozen local transportation projects, including repairing 22 bridges.
Nineteen of the bridges are on the state's red list of troubled bridges.
The stimulus money and highway funds will cover the total cost of the 35 projects.
Gov. John Lynch said using the stimulus money will allow communities to devote local money to other work.
Transportation Commissioner George Campbell said the bridge projects were selected based on their eligibility for federal money, readiness for construction, their condition, traffic volume, length of detour and access to critical facilities.
